UNICITY VS.
UNIFORMITY
My thesis is inspired by school uniforms, as I have been wearing them ever since I started elementary school for the following 12 years. I think the idea of uniformity plays a very important role in Chinese education system because we are always taught to follow the main stream. However, I always knew that I want to be different and that is why for this collection I want to bring in Haute Couture, that represents the idea of unicity, which from my point of view is the opposite of school uniforms which stand for uniformity.
This collection is dedicated to students like me, who want to but might not be able to showcase their styles as a student. Combing school uniform archetypes such as the tracksuits and t-shirts with couture shapes, especially the ones from Cristobal Balenciaga, I used a selection of bright and sporty colors to reinterpret a collections of school uniforms.
